PANAJI: In a bid to attract new industries, the state has chalked out plans to hold roadshows where investors from key cities in the country will be invited to harness the business opportunities in Goa. The state government, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) have joined hands to organise these roadshows.
The first roadshow is being held in Mumbai on September 13 where 72 firms and multinational companies have already signed up to attend the event, which is a precursor to the Invest Goa summit planned for October 7.
Industries minister Mauvin Godinho is expected to participate in the roadshow, which will be followed by one in Gujarat on September 16 and in Delhi on September 20.
“We will get investors who will put up units, generate employment and spur Goa’s economy,” said Manguirish Pai Raikar, a co-opted member on FICCI’s national executive committee.
The Invest Goa organising committee will also ink an MoU with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support the investor summit. “There are big investors, MNCs in Gujarat, and the federation has promised to bring these industries for the roadshow,” he said.
Raikar also said that international consultant EY has come on board as the knowledge partner for Invest Goa.
Meanwhile, a Chicago based manufacturing firm, KBR Sourcing LLC, has evinced interest in setting up a manufacturing plant in Goa and has already applied for land.
