Mangaluru: The NIA searched the house of Social Democratic Party of India national secretary Riyaz Farangipete on Thursday.
Riyaz is also in charge of the organisation in Bihar. Sources said the team conducted a search for nearly eight hours.
Riyaz said the NIA visited his house in connection with a case reported in Bihar in July.
They made several inquiries, and examined a few documents they have taken. “I hope the NIA investigation is transparent. These days we witness how the agencies are working in favour of the ruling
BJP government. We hope that justice prevails in this case. As a party leader, I used to travel to Bihar and had participated in the state committee meeting,” he said. He said five people were arrested in the case and the NIA visit is part of the probe. “The party will extend full support to the investigating agency, “ he said.
The moment news spread, SDPI activists gathered to protest. The SDPI will hold a protest condemning the search on Friday.
