ALWAR: A 37-year-old man, who was an accused in a dowry harassment case lodged by his in-laws for the last 10 years, was abducted and murdered in Govindgarh area of Alwar district late on Wednesday evening. After his family lodged an FIR against his in-laws, his brother-in-law was arrested on Thursday.
As per the FIR lodged by the deceased Naeem Khan's family, his nose and legs were chopped off with an axe. Khan was missing since September 6 after returning from a court appearance in the dowry harassment case. The family had lodged a missing complaint the same day, alleging that they suspected his in-laws to having abducted him.
"Based on their suspicion, we detained Akram Khan (36), brother-in-law of the deceased. He confessed to the murder during interrogation. Acting on his information, we recovered the body from a farm. We arrested Akram Khan on charges of kidnapping and murder. The other accused are on the run," said an official with the Govindgarh police station.
Naeem's body had multiple injuries. "It appears that he was hit with an axe. His nose, legs, hands and other parts of his body bore cut marks. Prima facie, it was found that he was kidnapped and brutally killed," the official said.

"A case of dowry harassment was lodged against him in 2012. He married in 2002 and did not have good relations with his wife. They used to have quarrels almost daily," the officer said.
Naeem's father Ashu Khan said, "My son's wife and her relatives had been constantly harassing him ever since his marriage. They were forcing him to leave us (parents) and start living with them. They lodged a dowry harassment case against him in 2012 when his wife started living with her parents."
