Loss of tur dal crop in K’buragi assessed

Kalaburagi: Led by the director of the Union ministry of agriculture, and farmers’ welfare, K Manoharan on Thursday took stock of the damage wrought by the rain in many villages of Kalaburagi district. Secretary of the Union ministry of rural development, SB Tiwari, special officer for the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority, S Jagadish, accompanied Manoharan to Honnakiranagi village, where they found that the tur dal had not grown to the extent the farmers had hoped. In September, each tur dal plant must rise to a height of four to five feet, but the stalks were no longer than two-foot high.. tnn
