Ranchi: A day after AICC leader Rahul Gandhi kicked off 3,500-km ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ against the Narendra Modi-led Union government, the state Congress unit on Thursday organised a march here on Thursday.
State party president Rajesh Thakur led veteran party leaders and workers during the march from the party office to Sarjana Chowk. They then headed back to Shaheed Smarak near Ranchi University.
The five-month Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari, will pass through 12 states and two Union territories. The party will highlight the alleged saffronisation of the constitutional bodies by the Centre, inflation and other issues plaguing the country during the journey. “From today onwards, the state unit, too, will hold regular pad yatras across blocks, panchayats, and at the mandal levels,” Thakur said.
“Jharkhand is not part of the itinerary of the Bharat Jodo Yatra but 100 Congress functionaries from our unit will join Rahul-Ji in some nearby states,” he added. TNN
