BHUBANESWAR: A student from the city has emerged as the Odisha topper in the national eligibility-cum-entrance test-undergraduate (NEET-UG), the results of which were published on Wednesday night.
Priya Somadutta Nayak, a student of Sai International School, secured 705 marks out of 720 with an all India rank (AIR) of 39 and 99.997 percentile.
He scored full marks, which is 180, in physics. "Physics is my favourite subject. I attempted chemistry first and then biology and physics while answering the questions in the examination," the state topper said.
Amid all problems during Covid, I tried to stay cool and focussed on studies," said Priya, who secured 96.2 per cent in Class XII this year and 99.2 per cent in Class X.
He said NCERT books areimportant for preparation. "I studied from NCERT books very often and solved model questions as part of the preparation. Doubt-clearing classes with teachers also helped me a lot. In the examination, I devoted more time to difficult questions," he said.

"I belong to Baruna in Jajpur district's Binjharpur block. I came to Bhubaneswar a few years ago to provide good and quality education to my son. My hard work has paid off and I am happy," he added.
