Ludhiana: With MC elections round the corner, the credit war between the existing councillors and AAP MLAs has intensified. In an indication of where the battle is heading, Ludhiana West AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi on Thursday did not leave an opportunity to inaugurate a tubewell in Ashok Nagar, which was inaugurated by Congress councillor Poonam Malhotra a few minutes earlier.
Sources said the situation could have got tense but the AAP MLA left the spot early as he had to accompany local bodies minister Inderbir Singh Nijjar who was in the city on Thursday.
Poonam Malhotra said, “I was unaware of the AAP MLA coming for the inauguration. This work was in general quota and I got this work approved last year. I had already scheduled the date of inauguration on Thursday.” She said all the residents were with her at the time of inauguration. Gogi could not be contacted for his comments. tnn
