Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday made a cryptic remark on his decision to run for the party’s presidential post. While addressing the media in Tamil Nadu, the Gandhi scion said, “Whether I become president (of Congress) or not will become clear when the election for the presidential post takes place.”
He said he has clearly decided what he will do and that there is no confusion in his mind regarding his decision.
He further said, “To put it in perspective, I am a member of the Congress party and I am part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.” He said the yatra’s goal is to unite India and that if the Congress benefits from it, that is secondary.
He also slammed the BJP and said the ruling party at the Centre has taken control of all the institutions in the country by putting pressure on them. “We are not fighting any political party, we are fighting all institutions,” said Rahul.
The Congress leader is currently in Tamil Nadu on day 3 of the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra. He kicked off the events of the third day by hoisting the national flag at Scott Christian College in Tamil Nadu's Nagercoil.
Rahul Gandhi commenced the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari on Wednesday. The yatra will conclude in Kashmir. It will cover a distance of 3,500 km and cross 12 states, taking roughly 150 days to complete.
