LUCKNOW : The city police arrested a 23-year-old Muslim man on Thursday over charges of desecrating idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shani at a temple in Chowk area of the city.
“Sporting vermilion on his forehead, a heavily drunk Taufiq Ahmad entered Lete Huye Hanumanji mandir premises and knocked off the head of Lord Shani idol by hitting it with a brick. He then uprooted the idol of Lord Hanuman and damaged the flag fixed in his hand. The devotees there overpowered him and handed him over to police,” Prachi Singh, DCP (East), said. Singh told TOI that the state’s anti-terrorrist squad is also investigating if there is a terror angle to the case.
