India bans export of broken rice with immediate effect

India banned the export of broken rice with immediate effect. The export policy has been revised from “free” to “prohibited” on September 09. “The price of broken rice which was around Rs 15-16 increased to Rs 22 and as a result broken rice is neither available for poultry feed nor for ethanol for which they were using broken rice,” informed Sudhanshu Panday, Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution.
