City boy ranks 28th in NEET

Mangaluru: A student from Mangaluru city has secured the all-India 28th rank in the general category in NEET results, announced late on Wednesday night.
Aditya Kamath, a student of Expert PU College, has scored 705 out of 720. Aditya said he is yet to decide whether to take up medicine as he is more interested in pursuing the pure sciences and becoming a scientist. “My goal is to become a scientist. I have already secured a seat in the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, after cracking the Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Exam (KVPY). It will take me some time to make the choice,” he said on Thursday.
Aditya has also ranked seventh in the CET-BNYS test.
He is the son of Dr Manjunath Kamath and Dr Shanthi Kamath. Dr Manjunath said his son was initially interested in medicine, but after some time he became more interested in the pure sciences.
Narendra L Nayak, the chairman of the Expert Group of Institutions, said that in the general category, five students of the college have appeared in the first 1,000 ranks. Eight have secured above 675 marks, 20 have secured above 650 marks, and a total of 225 students have secured above 500 marks. With this achievement, a total of 93% of college students who appeared for the NEET test are eligible to take up medicine. Skand Shanbhag and Priya Ashok Patil secured 175th and 487th ranks, respectively.
Alva’s student scores 54 AIR
Manoj N, a student of Alvas PU College in Moodbidri, has ranked 54th with a score of 690.
A total of 31 candidates have scored above 600 and 237 scored above 500.
