Due to suspected violations of the coastal zone restrictions, Curlies restaurant in Goa may shortly be razed. The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority's earlier decision to demolish the iconic shack was upheld by the National Green Tribunal or NGT. The green court's decision was made a few days after it was claimed that BJP politician Sonali Phogat was drugged at a party in Curlie's the night before she passed away. The Goa Coastal Authority first authorized the demolition of the building during its final meeting in July. The GCZMA's ruling ordering the demolition of the renowned restaurant was being challenged in a hearing before the NGT. Linet Nunes, the shack's co-owner, petitioned the green court after bringing the case to the High Court of Bombay in Goa.
