Actor and producer Kamaal R Khan was arrested on August 29 for his controversial tweets about Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor in 2020. In less than a week, he was again arrested on September 3 for a 2021 molestation case filed against him by a fitness trainer. He was produced before the court on September 4. KRK will now be walking out of prison on Thursday, September 8, after his release procedures get over at the Thane prison.
KRK was granted bail in the molestation case on Tuesday, September 6. While granting bail to him, the Borivali Magistrate said, “I have thoughtfully considered rival written and oral grounds. In fact, the crime is of the year 2020 registered on the basis of a Tweet alleged to be made by the accused. The prosecution not came with any incident occurred in consequence of the alleged Tweet made by the accused. Maximum punishment for the major offence in present crime is less than or which may extend upto seven years. Therefore, considering present trend for grant of bail in such category of cases, certainly the accused deserves to be released on bail on certain conditions.”
While imposing conditions, the court said, “The accused is directed to be released on bail on executing Personal Bond of Rs 15,000 with a surety or cash security of equal amount. The accused shall attend concerned police station on second and fourth Monday between 10 and 11 am until filing of charge-sheet or for 60 days, whichever is less.”
The court further added, “The accused shall not tamper with prosecution evidence or contact the witnesses, the accused shall not leave city of Mumbai without permission of the court.”
