Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:09AM

PIGL(up 4.88%), RTNPOWER(up 4.08%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 3.08%), Energy Development Company(up 2.87%), Inox Wind Energy(up 2.63%), NLC India(up 2.51%), KPI Green Energy(up 2.36%), Orient Green Power Company(up 1.54%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.44%) and Reliance Power(up 1.39%) were among the top gainers.

Suzlon Energy(down 3.35%), Voltamp Transformers(down 1.84%), Indowind Energy(down 1.18%), Adani Power(down 0.55%), JSW Energy(down 0.23%), Karma Energy(down 0.18%), Tata Power Company(down 0.04%) and Torrent Power(down 0.04%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 135.0 points up at 17759.4, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 503.32 points at 59532.23 at around 10:09AM.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 2.59%), ICICI Bank(up 2.4%), Bharti Airtel(up 2.27%), Shree Cement(up 2.15%), Asian Paints(up 1.67%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.53%), Eicher Motors(up 1.34%), IndusInd Bank(up 1.24%) and Enterprises(up 1.2%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, SBI Life(down 1.04%), Coal India(down 0.71%), Hindalco Industries(down 0.68%), Cipla(down 0.58%), Tata Steel(down 0.46%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 0.3%) and TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.11%) were trading in the red.
