Panaji: Advocate Aires Rodrigues has stated that the food and drugs licence issued to Silly Souls Cafe and Bar at Assagao stands in the name of Eightall Food and Beverages Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) which is operating in partnership with Ugraya Mercantile Pvt Limited of which the director is Zubin, husband of Union minister for women and child development Smriti Irani.
As per documents obtained under the Right To Information Act, the property surveyed under survey No 236/22 of the village of Assagao where it is located was leased to Eightall Food and Beverages LLP by Anthony D’Gama with effect from January 1, 2021 for a period of ten years at a monthly rent of Rs 50,000, he said.
“The lease agreement was executed at Mapusa on January 7, 2021,” Rodrigues stated, adding that the GST number in the name of Eightall Food and Beverages LLP is being used by Silly Souls Cafe and Bar.
Rodrigues denied stating that the Irani family members are owners of the cafe and bar, but maintained that they were running it.
Excise commissioner Narayan Gad on Monday will continue hearing the complaint filed by Rodrigues alleging that the licence was renewed in June this year in the name of a dead person as the licence holder Anthony D’Gama passed away on May 17 last year.
