Security guard held for stalking in Pune

PUNE: The Nigdi police on Tuesday arrested a 27-year-old security guard on the charge of stalking and harassing two schoolgirls after the father of one of them filed a complaint.
Sub-inspector Uttam Omase of the Nigdi police told TOI, “The man was working as a security guard on a temporary basis with the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). He has been charged under sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code and the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”
According to the complainant, the officer said, the man had been harassing the girls for the past one month. “He used to follow the girls when they would return home after school,” Omase said.
The man was produced before a court, which ordered his remand under judicial custody. He was sent to the Yerawada jail.
