India reports 6,395 new Covid cases in last 24 hours, active caseload declines to 50,342

NEW DELHI: India reported 6,395 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,44,78,636, even as the active cases declined to 50,342, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Thursday. With 33 fatalities in the last 24 hours, including 14 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the death toll has reached 5,28,090, the data updated at 8 am showed.
With a decline of 252 cases in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours, such cases now comprise 0.11 per cent of the total infections, the health ministry said.
According to the ministry, the national recovery rate has now increased to 98.70 per cent, with the number of people recuperating from the disease surging to 4,39,00,204.
The daily positivity rate is at 1.96 per cent and the weekly rate is 1.88 per cent as of now, while the case fatality rate is 1.19 per cent, according to the health ministry.
As far as vaccination is concerned, 36,31,977 vaccine doses were given in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 2,14,27,81,911.
Over 4.05 crore first-dose vaccines were administered for the age group of 12-14 years in the last 24 hours.
