TOKYO : Officials from Japan's Finance Ministry, Bank of Japan and Financial Services Agency will meet at 4:45 p.m. (0745 GMT) on Thursday to discuss global financial markets, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said.

Japanese authorities on Wednesday stepped up their verbal intervention against a weakening yen, with Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki saying he was concerned about "somewhat rapid and one-sided" moves in the yen.
