GORAKHPUR: Calling Lord
Rama 'the true religion', as one who embodied humanity, inspiration and light, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that the life of Rama was an inspiration for people on how to deal with the most difficult situations in life.
Speaking on the occasion of the 53rd death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath and the 8th death anniversary of Mahant Avaidyanath, the CM added: "Maryada Purushottam Lord
Shri Rama is a guide, inspiration and a beacon of light for all of humanity. His life inspires all of us to fight in difficult situations. Our sages have believed that Shri Rama is the only true religion."
A week-long musical Ramkatha was also started in the CM's presence on Wednesday. This will conclude on September 13 with a havan and bhandara. Yogi also led a procession from the main temple to the Ramkatha venue where he established an Akhand Jyot.
The CM said that just by listening to the story of Lord Rama, one's troubles vanished and that his story had a liberating impact on people. "There may be some differences among scholars regarding the interpretation of religion, but all religious traits mentioned in different interpretations are engrained in Rama's character. The present generation is fortunate to be a part of the tradition of listening to Shri Rama katha at a time when the construction of a grand temple in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Rama, is going on a war footing," he said.
He said that it was after a long wait of 500 years that the temple was finally coming up. The construction of the temple, he added, was also a means of showing respect to one's heritage. The Rama katha is part of that tradition, he said, where people come together each year at the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur and listen to the katha which is held in memory of the Brahmalin Acharyas.
To mark the death anniversary of Brahmalin Mahantdvay of Gorakshpeeth, a lecture series on various topics will start from Thursday. The CM will be present at the launch of the series. On the first day, a session will be organised on the topic 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: From Concept to Siddhi'.
