Jaipur: Former health minister and Malviya Nagar MLA Kalicharan Saraf on Wednesday expressed resentment on the transfer of doctors from Jaipuria Hospital, which falls in his constituency.
Saraf has wrote to chief minister Ashok Gehlot alleging that the transfers will affect the healthcare services badly.
Following an order by the department on September 3, 22 surplus doctors have been shifted out of the district from Jaipuria Hospital. The deputation of 10 doctors who were working here have also been removed, he said, adding that patients of Malviya Nagar, Sanganer, Bagru assembly constituencies in the southern region of Jaipur will have to face a lot of trouble due to the transfers.
Before 2013, the hospital had 100 sanctioned beds and 48 sanctioned posts of doctors. In 2015, the beds increased from 100 to 150, but there was no increase in sanctioned posts of doctors. After this, during the then BJP government in 2017, the number of beds were increased to 470. Since doctors posts were not increased, surplus doctors were appointed to provide smooth treatment to patients in the hospital, Saraf said.
At present, 83 doctors are working here. Between 2013 and 2018, facilities like sick newborn care unit (SNCU), pediatric ICU (PICU), trauma ward and facilities of MRI and CT scan were also added. As a result, where the OPD was 300 to 350 in 2013, it has increased from 3000 to 3500 currently, he said.
Presently occupancy of IPD is 95%. Also, 400 to 500 surgeries are performed every month and 250 to 300 births take place every month, he said.
