Kanpur: A truck driver was killed while four other persons were injured in a pile-up involving seven vehicles on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Auras police area of Unnao district late Tuesday night.
The accident took place when the driver of a sleeper bus, carrying passengers from
Agra and heading towards Lucknow, suddenly took brakes, following which two containers and five trucks coming from behind collided with each other. The bus driver fled from the spot.
In the accident, a truck driver, Prakash Chaudhary, resident of village Banjariya, Khalilabad district Sant Kabirnagar died.
The police said, “The accident took place near Koyaliyakheda in Auras area when the driver of a sleeper bus suddenly applied brakes. Two containers and five trucks coming from behind rammed into each other, leading to a pile-up on the Expressway. Five people sustained injuries and have been admitted to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow.” CO Bangarmau Pankaj Singh said, “The damaged vehicles have been removed from the road with the help of cranes to normalize the disrupted traffic. The family members of the deceased truck driver have been informed about the tragedy, they are on their way to Unnao, to claim his body. Further investigations to ascertain the root cause that led to a pile-up is underway.”
