RANCHI: Two days after winning the trust vote in Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha, chief minister Hemant Soren returned to work in Jharkhand Mantralaya amid the prolonged silence of the Raj Bhawan and the Election Commission on the office-of-profit case against him.
Soren reached his office in the afternoon and took part in a felicitation ceremony which was organized by the Jharkhand Administrative Service officers for implementing the old pension scheme in the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Soren said: “Tomorrow, someone else will take the chair in which I am sitting today. Governments come and go, but our objective is to create an organized system of governance.”
Soren also urged the officers to not sit on departmental files and dispose them in time so that implementation of schemes and work related governance do not get hindered.
Like Soren, state rural affairs minister Alamgir Alam and water resources minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur also returned to work on Wednesday. “We have the people’s mandate and our mandate is to work and deliver on the promises of the people. We even worked from our resort in Raipur and disposed of necessary files,” Alam said.
The UPA MLAs, however, stayed put in their respective constituencies after spending over a week in Raipur and Ranchi amid the political turmoil. Congress party’s Bermo MLA Kumar Jaimangal (Anup Singh) began his public contact programmes after reaching Bokaro and attended several Ganesh Puja pandals in his constituency. Mandar MLA Shilpi Neha Tirkey attended Karma festival in his constituency and attend Karma celebrations in Ranchi.
Veteran JMM lawmakers, however, took some time off after they returned to their constituencies. “I took rest for a couple of days after returning from Ranchi. From Thursday, I will begin meeting the people of my constituency and listen to their grievances,” Shikaripara MLA Nalin Soren said.
Asked whether the UPA has let its guard down after the trust vote, Congress president Rajesh Thakur said: “We are prepared for any situation. We are holding rounds of meetings to assess the situation and as and when they unfold, we will plan our future course of action.”
