Stalin announces biodiversity eco park near Manimuthar

TIRUNELVELI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced the creation of a biodiversity eco park near Manimuthar dam at a cost of Rs 7 crore.
Speaking at a function after inaugurating various projects in Tirunelveli, Stalin said that the park would facilitate tourism activities in the region and create awareness on the environment among the people.
He assured that an integrated banana auction centre would be established at Kalakkad based on the demands of the banana farming community in the district.
The chief minister announced that a sports stadium and training centre would be established at Radhapuram since youngsters from the coastal area are very talented in the sports and games. The infrastructure would be useful to them and they would be trained and encouraged to participate in national and international tournaments, he said.
Stalin also announced a bypass road in the western side of Tirunelveli district, a long pending demand of the city people, would be built. Land acquisition work is under process and once the acquisition is over, the road will be laid at Rs 370 crore in three phases, the CM said.
The chief minister appreciated the Thai-Care Nellai project of the district collector, wherein the health parameters of expecting mothers wo be monitored digitally and the district administration expects zero maternal mortality rate.
Stalin appreciated the Nellai Neervalam project of the district. It digitally maps 1,200 waterbodies in the district and the administration has roped in NGOs to protect the waterbodies.
The dream of the state government is that there should be no backward district in Tamil Nadu, Stalin said.
