Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that youth should not rely on their family or MLAs for jobs and that they should decide in their first year of graduation whether they want to take up a job, start a business or continue their education.
“The youth of Goa should not just limit themselves as job seekers, but also aspire to be job creators by availing of the benefits of the various state government schemes,” Sawant said after inaugurating the directorate of higher education’s Training, Internship and Placement Cell.
If students decide on their future course of action in the first year of graduation itself, then the unemployment rate, which is high in the state, will not increase, he said, adding that there was a huge employment potential in the pharma, hospitality, IT and tourism sectors, among others.
