Karnataka: 3 killed after tractor comes in contact with live wire

CHIKKAMAGALURU: Three persons were electrocuted and three others sustained injuries when the arch of a tractor carrying a Ganesha idol for immersion came in contact with a live wire. This happened in Hosali village late on Tuesday.
The incident happened around 11pm when the devotees were returning home after immersion of the idol, in Banakal police limits. The deceased are Rachana, 22, Parvati, 28, and Raju, 50. All the deceased are local residents.
The injured are Sangeetha, Pallavi, and Gowri. Sangeeta and Pallavi were shifted to Hassan hospital while Gowri is admitted to Mudigere hospital for treatment.
The three who died were holding the arch and so were electrocuted to death on the spot. The tractor driver sustained injuries. It was raining heavily at the time, said police. It is suspected the driver lost control over the vehicle resulting in the tragedy.
