Two arrested for gang rape

Belagavi: Market police arrested two persons on Wednesday, in connection with the gang-rape of a widow. The accused are Yallappa Naik and his friend Durgesh, of Nesaragi town in Bailhongal taluk. Police sources said, the accused had taken the woman to an isolated room in Anagol, under the guise of showing her directions, and raped her. In this regard, the survivor had registered a complaint in the Market police station some days ago. Based on the complaint, police started an investigation, and arrested the two accused. The survivor is from Shirol taluk in Maharashtra. She was living at her mother’s house in Belagavi, as well as husband’s house, after the demise of her spouse, two years ago. tnn
