Coimbatore college student electrocuted

COIMBATORE: A 19-year-old college student was electrocuted at his residence in Chinna Thadagam on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Mohanraj, son of Murugan of Mannargudi in Thiruvarur district. He had been staying with his parents and elder brother Sridhar in a rental house at Chinna Thadagam for the last two years. His father is a school van driver.
Mohanraj was doing final year BCom at Kongunadu Arts and Science College in Coimbatore.
Around 6.30pm on Wednesday, there was a power interruption at his residence. He opened the electricity box at his residence, suffered a shock and fell on the floor.
He was rushed to a private hospital at Kovilmedu where he died without responding to treatment. The dead body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
After postmortem, the body was handed over to the family members on Thursday afternoon. They took the body to their home town for last rites.
The Thadagam police registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the CrPC.
