RANCHI: “Air quality has declined in recent years and is becoming a major concern for the world.” The assistant municipal commissioner of Ranchi, Jyoti Kumar Singh, was addressing a workshop, ‘Air We Share: Ensuring Blue Skies in Jharkhand’, organised by RMC in collaboration with the Central for Environment and Energy Development (CEED) on Wednesday on the occasion of ‘International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies’.
YK Das, the member secretary of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, said, “The state is working on a pollution control action plan for Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Jamshedpur. The plan would be expanded to cover Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Chaibasa, Dumka, Sahibganj, and Pakur. Every individual should contribute to the fight against pollution.”
Municipal commissioner
Shashi Ranjan, said, “The state government is committed to ensuring breathable air through sustainable management of construction and demolition waste, ban on open burning of solid fuels, reducing vehicular emissions and better sanitation solutions, among others.”
