BHUBANESWAR: This year, Ravenshaw University Cuttack beat BJB Autonomous College Bhubaneswar in the list of institutions with highest cut-off marks for undergraduate (UG) admission. Ravenshaw has the highest cut-off mark in 19 subjects.
Last year, BJB College was at the top of cut-off mark lists for 22 subjects in five streams. But this year, Ravenshaw has topped the list for 19 subjects followed by BJB Autonomous Colleges in eight subjects.
Ravenshaw has set 94.17% for physics against last year's 96.4% set by BJB College. Similarly, BJB's cut-off mark was 95.40% for zoology.
Ravenshaw has topped the list in 12 out of 29 subjects of arts stream, six subjects (physics, chemistry, computer science, geology, economics and geography) in physical science and one in commerce stream. BJB is the sought-after college for anthropology, music, mathematics, statistics, zoology, botany, biotechnology and computer science (self-finance course).
Other colleges include FM Autonomous College Balasore which has set the cut-off mark at 85.33% for Hindi and 73% for Urdu. The state has 2,51,585 seats in 1,022 degree colleges. This year, 2,55,866 students have applied for UG admission against last year's number of 2,44,252. As many as 1,56,087 students selected in the first merit list passed out from CHSE, Odisha. TNN
