Bicholim: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai said he is impressed by the cordial relations the elected representatives have with their citizens.
“Elected representatives in Goa listen to the grievances of the people patiently and are always accessible to them, which is remarkable,” he said.
Pillai on Tuesday visited the Vitthal Rakhumai Temple in Vitthalapur, Sanquelim and paid obeseince to the deity and also performed aarti.
On this occasion, former chief minister Pratapsingh Rane, Poriem MLA Divya Rane, Vijayadevi Rane and devasthan committee officials were present.
“I like to mingle with people and know the culture and history. There are many temples in Goa, and their histories are very inspiring,” Pillai said.
He also visited Rane’s ancestral house.
Pillai also toured parts of Sattari, including Valpoi and Honda, and met the people.
He informed that Raj Bhavan will look into their representations from various panchayats in the state. The demands made by sarpanchs will be handed over to the departments concerned, and will also personally pursue the matter till it is solved, he pointed out.
Stating that the visits are part of ‘Sampurna Goa Yatra’ he has commenced, the governor said it is for him to visit the villages and know the grievances of the people.
He said 500 dialysis patients have benefitted from the discretionary funds, besides providing assistance to old-age homes and institutions from the discretionary fund.
