KANPUR: Kargil Park, after its innovation, was opened once again for public on Monday evening.
The park, which is Kanpur Smart City limited flagship project “Modernization and development of jogging track’ was inaugurated by Devendra Singh Bhole MP in presence of mayor Pramila Pandey, Nilima Katiyar, MLA, Arun Pathak, MLC, divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar the district magistrate and the municipal commissioner.
The estimated cost of the project was Rs 4.58 crore and it was to be completed in 6 months but due to the efforts and hard work of Kanpur Smart City and developer MHPL India, the project was completed one month before the scheduled time (within a duration of 5 months).
Under its new construction 1.8 km long synthetic jogging/walking track has been developed all around the park. The track is made of EPDM and consists of 3 circuits--one for the fast joggers, the other for brisk walkers and the third for senior citizens.
Besides new ambient lighting, the park has the feature of pipe music all around so that citizens can enjoy bhajans and light music during the walk.
Outdoor benches for old age citizens have been placed in the park to make them relax during the walk. The entire area has CCTV surveillance system equipped with Wi Fi.
The project will soon be handed over to Kanpur Nagar Nigam which will be responsible for its proper operation and maintenance, said commissioner Raj Shekhar.
Entry to the park will be free in the first two days and thereafter visitors will have to purchase tickets.
