The Income Tax Department is carrying out raids at the Delhi-based autonomous think tank Center for Policy Research. The premises of the research organisation situated close to Malcha Marg in focal Delhi are being covered.

The specific justification behind leading the investigation, where just business premises are covered by the taxman, was not known.

As indicated by its website, The Center for Policy Research (CPR) has been one of India's driving public strategy think tanks starting around 1973. CPR is a non-benefit, non-hardliner, free establishment devoted to directing exploration that adds to great grant, better strategies, and a more hearty public talk about the issues that influence life in India.

As per media reports, the Income Tax Department raids were connected to assaults in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, and different spots regarding the subsidising of non-perceived ideological groups.
