NOIDA: A Sector 73-based family has alleged that their 15-year-old son died due to a doctor's negligence, police said on Tuesday. A case has been registered against the doctor, who is absconding, and further investigation is under way.
According to police, the accused doctor has been identified as Alam, who runs a clinic in Sarfabad village.
"On Sunday evening, the boy, Karan, complained about having a severe stomach ache. We took him to Alam's clinic in Sarfabad. The doctor gave him a few medicines as well as some injections. Alam then asked us to leave. After reaching home, Karan's pain increased and became unbearable instead," Ravindra, the boy's uncle, told police.
Later, the child was taken to Shivalik Hospital, which referred him to a hospital in Nithari hospital. When the family took him there around 11pm, doctors declared him brought dead.
"We tried reaching out to Alam, but he wasn't available. He had left the clinic. We then filed a complaint against the doctor for negligence," Ravindra stated, adding that Karan was the third of four children in the family.
Station house officer (SHO) of Sector 113, Sharad Kant said the girl's body was sent for autopsy on Monday and was later handed over to the family.
"An FIR has been registered based on the family's allegations against the doctor under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. According to the post-mortem report, the exact cause of death couldn't be ascertained. The viscera has been preserved for forensic tests," Kant said.
Alam is on the run, police said, adding that several teams have been formed to nab him soon.
"He had been running the clinic for the past one year. We will check his medical degree and other papers to find if he was running the clinic illegally. Further investigation is underway," the SHO added.
