Sri Lankan cricket team reaches Kanpur, to play match from September 10

KANPUR: Sri Lankan cricket team, under the captaincy of Tillakaratne Dilshan, reached Kanpur to play matches under Road Safety World series championship beginning from September 10.
The team arrived at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Airport Chakeri and from there the organizers transported them to their hotel. The players preferred to take rest instead of going on outings. According to a RSWS representative, the Sri Lankan team will go to the Green Park stadium for nets. Two players Jeevan Mendis and Sanath Jayasuriya will reach the city on September 8.
Indian team captain Sachin Tendulkar is also reaching on Wednesday. He is leading the Indian cricket team which will play its inaugural match against South Africa legends. The first leg of the series will be played in Kanpur. Under it, as many as seven matches will be organized at the Green Park stadium. The second leg of the event will be held in Indore where five matches will be played at Holkar stadium. As many as six matches of the third leg will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium Dehradun while five matches, including two semi-finals and finals will be played in the fourth and last leg in Raipur. The finals will be played on October 1.
Besides India, England, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh , Australia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are participating in this championship.
Two matches are scheduled on September 11 in which Bangladesh legends will clash with West Indies legends and New Zealand legends will face the challenge of South African legends.
Meanwhile, the preparations for matches at the Green Park stadium are in full swing. Everything will be managed and arranged before the inaugural day, said the organizers.
The Sri Lankan team players are Tillakaratne Dilshan (Captain), Kaushalya Weeraratne, Mahela Udawatte, Rumesh Silva, Asela Gunaratne, Chamara Silva, Isuru Udana, Chamara Kapugedera, Chaminda Vaas, Chaturanga de Silva, Chinthaka Jayasinghe, Dhammika Prasad, Dilruwan Perera, Dilshan Munaweera, Ishan Jayaratne, Nuwan Kulsekara, Upul Tharanga and Thisara Periera.
