NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly bludgeoning his father to death with a rolling pin in Sarai Rohilla area. The teenager alleged the man had thrashed him over a trivial matter.
Police said on August 22, they received information about the incident from Northern Railway Central Hospital in Paharganj, where a man identified as Bansi Lal had been admitted and declared dead. His body was shifted to the Sabzi Mandi mortuary for post-mortem and a case of murder was registered, said a senior police officer.
DCP (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the autopsy revealed 19 injuries on Lal's body, including multiple bruises and fracture in the ribs.
When Lal's family members were interrogated, it emerged he was a dipsomaniac. On August 22, he was dropped home by his colleagues Shesh Nath and Sanni Kumar Lamba in an inebriated condition.
"When he reached, he scolded and abused his son over some trivial issue and kicked him, as a result of which the boy hit a wall and injured his head. He then thrashed his father with a wooden rolling pin, causing multiple injuries," Kalsi said.
"Multiple teams were formed. The boy was apprehended on Monday and produced before the JJB too. We also found the weapon," he said, adding that the boy told cops his father often used to beat up his mother.
