Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has directed the police to conduct an effective campaign to nab the criminals who have committed heinous crimes to increase trust in the police force. He was addressing the law and order review meeting at the chief minister's residence on Tuesday.
At a review meeting, concern was expressed over the incidents of rape of minor girls. Senior police officers said Rajasthan is at No. 12 in registered rape crimes against minor girls. After Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan has been ranked second in the registration of such crimes. But more than half of the cases in the state have been found to be false during the investigation.
“With the policy of mandatory registration in the state, more false cases are coming to the fore. IPC crimes accounted for 30% of false cases in 2020 and 28% in 2021. In cases of crime against women, 45.28% were found false in 2020, 45.26% in 2021, and 48% in 2022,” it was informed.
Police said they are taking action to crack down on history-sheeters and hardcore criminals. At present, there are 11,009 history sheets in the state, with an addition of 296 new history sheets this year.
