GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Wednesday recovered huge a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives in Assam’s Sonitpur district near the inter-state border with Arunachal Pradesh.
According to police, the weapons were hidden underground in a trunk in a jungle near Belsiri river.
The recovered weapons and explosives include six handmade pistols, 36 grenades, 25kg of explosive powder, four detonators, live ammunition of 9mm and 5.56 mm bore, A-K assault rifles and an LMG.
Police said they suspect the cache to have been buried by members of now disbanded National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) before they surrendered.
