Bengaluru Floods News LIVE Updates: IMD predicts continuous rainfall for next five days, yellow alert issued

Flood waters receded on Wednesday in the country's technology hub of Bengaluru, allowing normal life to resume in parts of the city after two days of incessant rain brought chaos and killed at least one person. Police said flooded roads had cleared in the worst hit areas with traffic returning to usual levels, while the city's water utility said it had resumed regular supplies after the flooding closed a pumping station. High corruption, bad governance: Mohandas Pai on floods in Bengaluru

Information technology industry veteran T V Mohandas Pai has said the havoc caused in Bengaluru due to heavy rains was a result of multiple factors, including bad governance, high corruption, and lack of urban reforms. Both political leaders and bureaucrats have failed the citizens, the former chief financial officer of IT major Infosys Ltd said on the floods in parts of Bengaluru following two days of torrential rains. From plain angst to quirky sarcasm or questioning the authorities, many Twitter users were at their creative best, some quipping “Bengaluru is Venice now” while some others rued the eroding green cover leading to new civic challenges. “Who needs a wonderla, a water amusement park when entire #bangalore can we be water park! Thanks for #bbmp , it takes lot of efforts and dedication to turn a city into a floating city!” a twitter user going by the name “anonymous!@Died_Democracy” said in a tweet. Anirban Sanyal, another twitter user, shared a picture of a water-logged city airport, and had a swipe at the state of infrastructure.
