OYO requests civil servants to promote local tourism

With state’s top civil servants, the Government of Oyo State weekend organized an interactive session on tourism values, requesting them to encourage and promote more than 450 tourist centres all over the state.


The chairman, Oyo State Tourism Board, Debo Adejumobi, appealed during a one-day interactive session on the awareness of domestic tourism campaign in Ibadan.


The campaign – ‘Know your State, Enjoy Your State, and Promote Your State’ Adejumobi stated that for civil servants, it was important to be aware of the sites of Domestic Tourism in the state.


Adejumobi stated that to develop tourism in the state, there was the urgency for different stakeholders, like civil and public servants to spend more time, often in their locality for leisure, local holiday or entertainment.


He said that Oyo State is capably endowed with sundry exclusive tourism potential dotted over its every nook and corner. In spite of the gorgeous sites and monuments, majority of the Civil and Public servants remain ignorant of most of those sites along with exact locations and also importantly their tourism values.


The financial multiplier consequences of tourism can generate employment opportunities, boost power and generate income, domestic tourism and equally raise the visitor flow to the attractions of local tourism, boost trade and commerce particularly within the immediate locality of the site.


The Special Adviser, Tourism, Ademola Ige, has appealed to the operators of tourism and other stakeholders in the industry to promote over four hundred and fifty tourist centres in the state.
