JAIPUR: In a breakthrough in the Rs 50 lakh robbery the Jaipur police on Monday arrested seven persons involved in the armed robbery at the residence of a flour trader. Police also managed to recover Rs 9 lakh cash and some jewellery that was looted and a car used in robbery . Out of the seven arrested two were involved in execution and the rest five including a woman were part of planning and recce.
Senior police officers of the Jaipur police commissionerate affirmed that the gang involved in the robbery is part of family members known as Panchal Gang.
"After the incident we had taken call detail records of more than 7,000 phones, more than 2,000 policemen of various ranks were involved - from technical surveillance, gathering information, analysing CCTV footages and to field work. It was found that one Rehan who brings garments in Jaipur and is a small-time garments seller got in touch with the Panchal gang. He was allured for some money to give a tip on some rich persons in Jaipur," said Ajay Pal Lamba, additional commissioner of police (Crime) said in a press conference.
Delhi-based criminals involved in the robbery hired two persons of Jaipur who helped them in recce of the flour trader's house which was done two months ago.
On August 24, the robbers entered Tambi's house posing as income tax officers. As soon as they were inside, they took out guns and threatened the family members including women and children and tied them up.
"Out of the Rs 50 lakh robbed money as mentioned in the FIR, we have managed to recover Rs 9 lakh and also some jewellery. We are sure of recovering more money and jewellery," Lamba added.
The arrested accused were identified as Sanjay Panchal who is also the president of Panchal Mahasabha in Delhi, Rehan (Delhi), Aman Singh (Delhi), Ashok Panchal (Delhi), Nisha Panchal (Delhi) and two natives of Jaipur including Muzaffar Ali and Waseem.
"We have also recovered the car used in the robbery which was also stolen prior to the robbery ," he added.
