PANAJI: CM Pramod Sawant said on Monday that the state government is firm on setting up the permanent IIT-Goa campus at Sanguem, and that there are no land issues there as it is government land.
He said that he has not spoken on the IIT as an official decision has not yet been taken. "It is final and it is government land," he said. A s it is government land, we don’t have to buy land from anyone, and this time, IIT will come up at Sanguem. There is a delay in signing of the agreement between the state government and IIT. Once the Union ministry’s site selection team visits the site, the agreement will be signed.”
The CM said that the process to identify land began during his previous tenure. “After we identified the land, Subhash Phal Dessai has taken the initiative, and the way he has shown positivity, I am confident that there is no need for the government to speak.” He said that the IIT will create an “environment of education” in the area, and small businesses will also be developed.
