In a sustained effort to make Odisha the nation’s leading investment destination, the Government of Odisha, in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), hosted a curtain-raiser for the ‘Make in Odisha’ Conclave and Investors’ Meet in New Delhi.
The event saw participation of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik, State Minister of Industries- MSME & Energy, Shri Pratap Keshari Deb; other state government dignitaries, ambassadors from over 30 countries, and more than 50 delegates representing the various industries from across India.
The Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, Shri Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, welcomed the gathering and initiated the ambassadors’ meeting. He drew attention towards Odisha’s impressive GSDP growth rates year-after-year, and shed light on how Odisha has been one of the country’s major breakout states in terms of development and industrialisation.
Speaking about the ‘Make in Odisha’ Conclave’22, Shri Mahapatra stated that the purpose of the summit is to not just showcase the emerging opportunities in Odisha but enable the state "to build a platform for global leaders to discuss the future of business, trade and commerce, skilling and much more."
Addressing the esteemed gathering, Shri Naveen Patnaik said that Odisha has consistently grown in the last decade and a half because of its natural resource advantage and strategic location. Talking about his government, Patnaik said the focus has been on leveraging these natural resources through "progressive policy, efficient administration, and technological interventions."
Speaking along similar lines, Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, highlighted that Odisha has always been known for its magnificent handloom industry and, going forward, the state is firmly focusing on technical textiles and has set up a technical textiles park in Bhadrak anchored by IOCL’s 300 KTPA Polyester and Fiber plant. Speaking about other industrial sectors, Deb said, "We have also developed robust ecosystems for sectors like Food Processing, IT/ITes, ESDM."
Make In Odisha CONCLAVE'22
Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Skill Development & Technical Education and Chairman-IDCO and Chairman-IPICOL, Government of Odisha, Shri Hemant Sharma made a presentation on ‘Make in Odisha’ where he highlighted the achievements the state has made owing to over two decades of stable governance.
Initiated in 2016, the third edition of the ‘Make in Odisha’ Conclave 2022 is scheduled between November 30 and December 4, with a focus on sectors, including metals and metal downstream, chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel, along with technical textiles, food processing and more.
