Jaisalmer: The patwari of Mokalsar in Barmer district, Rekha Vaishnav, was arrested by the Jaisalmer unit of ACB on Sunday evening for accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.
Vaishnav’s husband Subhash Vaishanav, who was allegedly the middleman in the bribery case, fled the spot after her arrest, said officials. ACB is conducting a search at the houses and other premises linked to the couple, they added.
ACB DG BL Soni said the Jaisalmer unit had received a complaint saying that Rekha Vaishnav, the patwari of patwar mandal Mokalsar under Siwana tehsil in Barmer district, and her husband Subhash Vaishanav were harassing him for a bribe of Rs 25,000 for transferring to his name a plot of land he had purchased.
“The complaint was verified, and a trap was laid. Rekha Vaishnav was arrested while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000. The middleman, her husband Subhash, ran away from the spot. The couple had already taken a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant,” said ACB ADG Dinesh MN. Further investigation is on, he added.
