New Delhi: External affairs minister S Jaishankar held a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday, focusing on economic partnership in the backdrop of renewed push to the Chabahar Port and International North-South Transport Corridor, and the Iran nuclear deal.

The conversation took place ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit scheduled in Samarkand under the Uzbek presidency on September 15-16. Leaders of India and Iran will be present at the summit, where Iran will be formally admitted as an SCO member.

The current state of the proposed India-Iran nuclear deal amid intense negotiations between the two sides also figured in the talks between the two ministers.
