Students of Kudumangaluru Government High School transplanted paddy in an agricultural field in Kudluru village as part of agricultural education.
The students visited the agricultural field of KS Rajachari, a progressive farmer from Kudlur village, and enthusiastically transplanted the saplings in the paddy field. More than 80 students participated in the initiative.
In cooperation with Kudumangaluru village panchayat, Eco Club and NSS Club of Kudumangaluru Government High School, National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, Karnataka State Science Council Unit, SDMC have jointly organised this programme as part of 75th year of India's independence.
The work in the field was part of the rural field games. The enthusiastic planting work attracted the attention of the local people.
District nodal officer of Eco Club T G Premkumar said: "Children are made to actively participate in curricular activities .This creative programme is aimed at providing them agricultural experience."
"I want to become an agronomist. All of us transplanted the sapling with women farmers and it was a good experience," said Sanjana, the school leader.
"It is a good thing that this school is giving children the experience of agricultural activities by doing planting work in the field," said K S Rajachari.
