HYDERABAD: The Telangana legislative assembly and legislative council meetings will begin on Tuesday. The monsoon session of the assembly is likely to continue for three days, i.e., September 6, and later on 13 & 14. The Business Advisory Council of the assembly and council will finalize the dates of the sessions in consultation with floor leaders of various parties.
The last assembly sessions were held in March to approve the state budget and it is meeting after six months. The state government had planned to hold a one-day special session in view of the independence diamond jubilee celebrations on August 21, but could not be held.
The sessions are beginning without any address by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan as both the houses were not prorogued by the assembly speaker and legislative council chairman after the budget sessions.
The state government is likely to present crucial bills pertaining to the recruitment of teachers for universities, the GHMC Act amendment and other important pending bills during this session.
The CM is likely to speak and lash out at the BJP government at the Centre on various policies and adopt some resolutions on electric meters to borewells and condemning communal incidents across the country.
On the arrangements, speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and legislative council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy held a meeting with officials and reviewed the arrangements on Sunday.
