Haryana man gets 5-year jail for molesting minor

KARNAL: A fast-track court in Panipat sentenced a man to five-year imprisonment for molesting a 12th clash student in 2019.
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Sukhpreet Singh has also imposed a fine of Rs 22,000 fine on the convict identified as Sumit Goswami, a resident of Satkartar colony in Panipat.
As per the information, on August 13, 2019, a 16 years old girl from a locality in Panipat had filed a complaint at woman police alleging that the accused used to molest and harass her on the way to school.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under sections 10 of the POCSO Act, 12 of the POCSO Act, 323, 354D, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Subsequently, police arrested the accused.
After almost three years, the accused has been put on sentence.
