Jaipur: The civil defence and state disaster relief force (SDRF) on Sunday fished out the body of a 22-year-old man who had drowned in Nevta Lake on Saturday evening after a boat capsized.
SHO (SEZ) Satyapal Singh said that the deceased was identified as Suresh Gurjar, a local resident. “The search operation is underway for another man, named Saksham Tambi. We have called a team of the national disaster relief force (NDRF) from Ajmer for the same,” he said.
Police said two men survived the mishap after swimming out of the lake. The two survivors then alerted local authorities about the incident. The sources said that the accident was caused when the boat lost balance and capsized.
A major search operation was organised immediately. The team from the civil defence and the SDRF arrived at the scene and searched the lake for several hours. The rescue effort was halted in the night and resumed on Sunday morning. The officials said that teams are searching for Tambi in the lake but no clue could be found.
“There are some challenges in finding Tambi in this vast lake. The boat had capsized somewhere in the middle of the lake, which made the operation more difficult. The divers had been searching for some clue of him but in vain. We had to stop the rescue effort on Saturday because it was already dark and divers found it difficult to search for the two men in such conditions. One person was fished out on Sunday afternoon, but the second one remains missing,” said an official.
