NEW DELHI: A 53-year-old principal was allegedly beaten up by a group of men who forcibly entered a school in Jahangirpuri on Saturday. Police have arrested two people in the case. The accused were identified as Sushant (38) and Vineet Gautam (26).
At 6pm on Saturday, police received a PCR call regarding a quarrel at the MCD primary school at E-block. Police said Pratap Singh, principal of the school, told them that he was holding a meeting with the school management committee when four people came in and started asking about a teacher named Laxman.
"They asked why the students of Laxman’s class were roaming outside. The principal told them that the school timings were over and the students were going home. The men then started abusing him and even assaulted him," police said.
Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said a case under sections 186 (obstructing public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC was registered.
MCD confirmed the incident and hoped that the other accused would be caught too.
