Travellers heading to the UK have suffered a six-hour delay for the Saturday and Sunday Calais border. Calais border is the location where the chaos has been noticed.

The ferry operators DFDS and P&O Ferries apologised on Sunday morning for the long wait times in UK border control.

P&O has stated that additional vessels have been used for the passengers who have missed their sailing.

They have issued their statement as they are sincerely sorry regarding the wait time in the port of Calais. The checked-in vehicles have been unable to reach the loading lanes as the queues were blocked.

Some passengers have been very angry due to the late delay. A 260-minute late wait at the Port of Calais with two kids is not a really good ride. She charged that why the 9 borders were closed at all.

Delays to passport checks at Calais, extra traffic through the Channel tunnel along with the breakdown of a Eurotunnel train. This indicated that thousands of holidaymakers were left stranded for hours. Many passengers complained of having “no water and bad toilet facilities” as they queued.

In August, one Eurotunnel incident required passengers to disembark. This left 100 vehicles behind, this also required a walk to a service train. Videos on social media showed holidaymakers walking through a second tunnel that has created a rail route between Britain and France.

One of the major reasons for the delay has been the necessity for the Brits to get their passports stamped. The increased average checking time for each car from about 58 seconds to 90 seconds.

The Brexit impact has come into force in January 2021. The impact on tourism to the continent has only become evident as the passenger rates have started to grow.
